How did it all start?
Founded in 1974, by a group of ardent Alfisti, during a fish and chip dinner (accompanied by Asti Spumante of course!) at Taupo, the Alfa Romeo Owners Club of New Zealand is the national club for passionate lovers of this legendary Italian marque. Celebrating 50 years in 2024 was a true acknowledgement of all the volunteer time that has gone into making the club as great as it is, one that has eyes always to the future, and the next 50 years.
We are all about fun
If you need some fun in your life, you have come to the right place! We are also a somewhat obsessed bunch of Alfa Romeo (AR) fans … otherwise known as Alfisti. With many fabulous events held throughout the regions, we regale in each other’s company, create great memories together, and generally just have a fabulous time together. Think … interesting runs to places near and far, AGMs (we call them Festa Annuale) held all around the nation, and heaps of opportunities to stretch those lovely AR legs.
You don't need to own an Alfa to join us
Don’t worry if you aren’t currently in possession of an AR – there are plenty of Alfisti members who will make up for that – in fact many are so obsessed they have more than one (or even many more than one!).
Generating the events for you are a team of hardworking Regional Representatives who dream up the fun activities and in some regions, monthly dinners, where you can tell tall tales (or true – you choose) or simply hear others telling theirs. Brought together by a mutual love of Alfa Romeos, you are likely to find other mutual pastimes so it isn’t all about the cars!
Do you need advice?
If you are in need of advice about your AR then you have absolutely come to the right place. The knowledge in the membership is boundless, and share with you they will. You won’t find a friendlier, more helpful group of enthusiastic fans – we could even be called the Alfa Romeo Appreciation Society – we are that hooked!
Come on – don’t be shy. We invite you to join us at a club dinner or an event. You are welcome to try us out before you join – we are pretty sure you really will not want to miss out on the fun! Or if you already know you need more fun in your life, just go ahead and join us here.
Activities
AKA - your ticket to more than a few fun times with like-minded (did we mention really passionate?!) Alfisti.
Oh – it’s not all about the cars either!
You might meet someone who is also involved in “insert almost all other pastimes here” … so we aren’t totally focussed on having fun with our steed of choice … well not all the time anyway!
This is just a glimpse of the activities we would love to welcome you to partake in. Our aim is to see you enjoying yourself … we welcome you to the “Alfamiglia”!
Festa Annuale
With the event re-named by Past President John Wilson, to be 'Festa Annuale' (instead of just AGM, which of course is retained for the meeting itself for legal purposes), this is a fantastic weekend event where you will find yourself meeting up with passionate Alfisti from all over the country. You shall also likely find yourself comparing notes (otherwise called chewing the fat), ogling at rare models (Alfas that is - although maybe an organiser might invite a fashion model one year!) and generally having an amazing time with crazily passionate Alfisti!

Club Nights
Regular Club nights are held in several regions. Organised by the Regional Reps they take different forms - some have dinners, some have 'meet us in the garage' style catchups. You will be welcomed with open arms. Don't be shy!! It won't be long before you find yourself with some new friends and it definitely won't be long before they are considered old (and might we add) GOOD friends!
Motorsport
We do have a strong Motorsport presence, with several members being supporters of many race meetings around the country. Feel free to get in touch with our MSNZ man, Chris Browne, on msnz@aroc.nz for a heads up on all things motorsport in the club!

& Overnight Trips
Most regions look for no excuses to get their steeds out of the stables and stretch their legs in the big wide world. Check out the Calendar for the events in your own region, or in others when you are lucky enough to be zipping around. Not to be outdone we also have an open invite from our Alfisti mates across the ditch to participate in events on their shores. Check out the Calendar for upcoming events near you. A paid AROCNZ Membership will ensure you are notified directly by the Regional Reps of the upcoming fun events that will connect you to a group of amazing, friendly, passionate clubbies. We think we can reasonably state that we are not your average car club!
